Set up the shot
Enter Photo Mode using the binding shown in your controls. Start with a familiar scene, then decide whether the subject is Geralt, another character, an action or the landscape.
For a portrait, leave room around the head and check the background for objects that appear to intersect the face. For a landscape, choose a foreground subject to give distant scenery a sense of scale. These are composition suggestions, not required settings.
Build and frame the scene
The expanded mode includes character placement, poses, expressions, props, camera presets and weather controls. Arrange the scene before fine-tuning its framing.
Choose the aspect ratio early. A wide desktop wallpaper often needs a different camera position from a vertical portrait. Rule-of-thirds guides can help place the subject without relying on exact center framing.
Work in a repeatable order
- Arrange the subject and choose a pose or expression.
- Set the camera position and framing, then lock it while adjusting the scene.
- Adjust time of day, weather and effect intensity. Check how light falls on the subject.
- Hide surrounding NPCs if they distract from the subject.
- Save a camera preset for another version of the composition.
- Use the capture control shown on your platform and confirm the image was saved before leaving.
Fix common composition problems
If the camera will not move where expected, check its lock and collision settings. First-person mode offers a different viewpoint but is not a substitute for arranging an external portrait.
If a pose or prop clips through scenery, move it or change the angle. If rain overwhelms the subject, reduce weather intensity. Save a second version rather than overwriting the only shot you like.
Capture behavior depends on your device and bindings. This guide does not assume one screenshot folder or keyboard shortcut for every platform.
