Remastered Mods & mod.io Guide

Install mods through the in-game menu and understand save, platform and achievement compatibility.

Reviewed October 4, 2026 · Remastered 5.x

Install through the Mods menu

  • Open Mods from the main menu. Sign in with your CD PROJEKT RED account and link mod.io.
  • Choose a mod and subscribe, then restart the game.
  • Open Installed and check that the mod is listed and enabled.

Moving between platforms

Use the same linked account. Subscriptions sync only where the mod is supported. Check platform tags and keep the same required mods active on both devices before moving a save.

On consoles, modded saves do not earn trophies or achievements. The mod.io gear icon identifies them. Keep an unmodded save if that matters to your playthrough.

Updating older mods

Older XML, script and localization mods need Remastered updates. Check the author’s compatibility notes.

A practical troubleshooting approach is to start with one mod on a separate save, check its behavior, then add the next. Record your mod list and versions so you can reproduce the setup. If a problem begins after an update, check the author’s changelog before changing unrelated settings.

Offline play and dependencies

Offline loading requires the needed mods to be installed already. Downloading missing mods requires an internet connection.

Treat each mod combination as a setup to test. Two changes to the same behavior can conflict. Avoid deleting a dependency from your only copy of a modded playthrough; return to an earlier save or follow the author’s removal instructions.
