How to Enable the Witcher 3 Console

The debug console is disabled by default on PC. A free community mod re-enables it in a couple of minutes — here's the whole process.

PC only

The console requires editing the game's files, so it's only available on PC (Steam, GOG or Epic). It cannot be enabled on PlayStation, Xbox or Switch.

  1. 1

Download the Debug Console Enabler mod

The Witcher 3 ships with the console disabled. Grab the free “Debug Console Enabler” mod from Nexus Mods — make sure you pick the build that matches your game: the original Classic version, or Next-Gen (game version 4.0 and later).

  2. 2

    Find your game install folder

This is the folder that contains the bin and mods directories — e.g. …/steamapps/common/The Witcher 3. On GOG it's wherever you installed the game.

  3. 3

Extract the mod into the game folder

Unzip the download and copy its bin and mods folders into the game root, merging with the ones already there. Nothing is overwritten — it only adds files.

  4. 4

Launch the game and open the console

Start a save, then press the tilde key (~). Depending on your keyboard layout the toggle may instead be F2, @ or the key left of 1. A text box appears at the bottom of the screen.

  5. 5

Type a command and press Enter

For example, type god for god mode, or healgeralt() to top up health. Item codes use additem('…'). Browse the full list below.

Tip: cheating disables nothing — achievements still unlock. But it's worth keeping a separate save before experimenting, since some debug commands can leave a playthrough in an odd state.
